CANADIAN MINING HALL OF FAME ANNUAL AWARDS TAKE ON NEW VENUE
TORONTO, March 21, 2016 -- Due to overwhelming demand, the next group of inductees into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame will be celebrated at a new venue for the first time in 29 years. On January 12, 2017, the Mining Hall of Fame’s Annual awards evening will officially move to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Established in 1988, the Mining Hall of Fame (CMHF) hosts the seminal annual event for the industry, attracting attendees from across the country and around the globe. “This is an exciting time for the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame and a new venue will provide us with a tremendous opportunity to respond to the intense demand for increased capacity,” says Patricia Dillon, Mining Hall of Fame chairperson.
The transition to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre was a significant decision, and one not taken lightly by the board of directors. “Obviously there is substantial history attached to the original venue; however, we felt this was the best way to honour inductees and serve the attendees,” says Dillon. “We are confident attendees will appreciate the new facility and increased opportunities for networking.”
Induction in the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame is the premier recognition of individuals’ lifetime achievement and contribution to the sector. “There is no shortage of pride in this industry and support for the leaders of this great sector has never been higher,” added Dillon.
The 2017 inductees and tickets sales will be announced in October 2016.
